5 intrepid trail runners tamed the Eagle View Trail this morning. Thanks for a great run Kathy, Mark, Nate and Emo. Nobody escaped without scratched arms and legs from the overgrowth in parts, but it was a great run none-the-less. And nobody got lost!

Wow what a trail I think I found heaven, all that single trail and full on technical sections was what we have been looking for, if only it was 40-50k long i would be there every weekend, but as Nate said this could be a mid week trail. Most enjoyable time out, I must have been lucky no scratches but yes the growth was definately threatening! Well done to Kathy for hanging in there, Suzy I agree better than Mundaring, Emo, Nate glad you made the effort to get there. When are we going again!!! Trail running rules

Mark, the only reason you escaped the scratches was coz you let Kathy get them all first! Or maybe your skin is just too tough - need to start using more moisturiser.

I'm glad you all enjoyed it. After Sal and I ran it last winter I wrote here that I thought it was the best trail in Perth. It would be even better on a cool clear winters morning. There are a few options to extend it along the Bridal Trails and Heritage trail. You can even get out near Toodyay Rd if you keep heading East. You have to follow Kangaroo Trails, the vegetation thins out a bit but it becomes real off road running..... Steve.

This was definitely the best trail that I've run on in the city, and one of the most enjoyable runs I have ever done! Thanks Kathy for suggesting it. I think I might try and make this my regular Wednesday morning run. It's only about 20min from work so should be able to start running at 6:30 and make it to work by 8:45 :-)

I'll be heading out this Saturday for my last long run before the 40 miler and want to do about 30-35k at close to race pace (5min/km) Probably head out to Jarradale to run north along the MB because of the terrain, any takers?? I have found that the optimum time for the last long run before a race is 9 days as you get time to recover and should peak just at the right time. With the 40 miler on a Monday it makes it quiet easy.

What time will you be heading out Saturday Nathan? We might tag along behind you at a slightly more pedestrian pace. We'll be at Bold Park on Sunday also. We're still deciding on the 40miler, it's probably a bit to soon at this stage but what else are we going to do on Easter Monday? Dave did well at the 6', 4:50 something the results are on Coolrunning.

My wife and I have hiked out as far as Toodyay road from that Eagle view Trail ...back in 200\5/2006... Maybe I might join you on the Wednesday morning sometime Nathan in the coming weeks, although I should really be at work then... Dave did 4.25 at 6 foot if you check the 6 foot thread on this board...which has links to cool running and multisport results...see wamc.proboards41.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=1203054001&page=2very good effort from Dave the 2nd fastest??? by a west australian after a 4.12 done this year also by Ray Lampard, who I have not heard of b4 maybe he recently moved here from interstate/overseas..or not...have no idea...either way still a classy effort by dave to go significantly faster than Victor (arguably a sub 3 marathoner, and has done 2 6inch races) and Colin Francis (a sub 2.50 marathoner and won 6 inch last year) did in recent years... so some more runs on the eagle trail soon hey...

Nathan, I did that run last Saturday (34km at 5min/km pace). I was planning to go south this weekend but would be happy to repeat the run for some company. Only problem is that I don't usually start quite as early as you appear to do so - I normally get to Jarrahdale at around 7.15 and start soon after. If that suits then I'll see you at the car park next to the General Store otherwise enjoy your run and good luck for the 40-miler. Vic.

Victor, It's a shame but I really need to start at 6:00am because I have other stuff to do on Saturday so the long runs needs to happen early. We'll probably run into each other along the course somewhere. Are you coming to the 40 miler?

Nathan, in that case I'll probably stick to my original plan and head south or maybe start from Kingsbury Rd and head south from there. Looks like it's going to be lovely running weather. Don't think I'll be heading to the 40-miler as I'll probably be working and the distance doesn't really fit with my current plans. I'll be at the Bold Park 10km on Sunday though.
