Hello Fellow Members, This is my first thread on here so here goes. My question may sound obvious but I was hoping someone who has already done what I want to do can advise me. I'm been invited to participate as a team member in this year’s Anaconda in November. Yes a Veteran team....mixed! Obviously this is off road and will be the first off road/ adventure run for me competitively. I have trained a lot on bridle trails. I must admit to being quite excited about it. Apart from finding some trails to run on, as I have recently moved to the Northern suburbs from the Hills..... I was hoping that someone might be able to guide me with an appropriate transition, if in fact there is one. I was intending to participate in the Wally Cairns in July; perhaps this is a good starting point competitively? Am I thinking about it too hard or should I just buy a pair of trail runners and get out there? I am pretty fit and run regularly, have run many half and full Marathons and triathlon...so I am pumped and believe I am up for the challenge, just needing guidance as to the right way to go about it. Any advice will be welcome, especially of places to run in the Hillary's area. Thanks Ms Honey

Ms Honey This board is almost dead. I'm actually the moderator and have forgotten that password. Still remember my own password from my 500 odd posts. Anyway I'm a very keen trail runner so hope this helps: I hear that the Anaconda is a particularly difficult course with much rock hopping and I believe there would be soft sand as well. Running along the beach up near Hilllarys may be your best option with rock and sand to negotiate. Apparently there is also a good trail system near Trigg and St Mary's College. The hillier, rougher and sandier the better. All the best.

Thank you Dave.... yes it looks pretty dead in here! So I appreciate your reply. I have been doing a bit of sand running so will increase that slowly and negotiate some rock hopping....that will take me back to my childhood Thanks for the heads up on the trail system around Trigg, I will look it up. Again, cheers for your advice. Ms Honey

Hello folks,
Not sure if I'll be too late here but there are a couple of options for trails in the north. Craigie Bushland, behind the Craigie Lesuire Centre, and up Joondalup Way there is the heritage trail that heads up to Yanchep NP. Trail head is off of Burns Beach Rd opposite Blue Mountains Drive.
