I hope that my organs are in pretty good shape after a lifetime of running and say 8 years of looking after myself. Therefore I wouldn't want to waste them with a pemature death so I'm signed up as an organ donor. Currently I have a friend waiting for donor lungs due to Cystic Fybrosis (CF). CF is an illness carried from birth. It generally leads to lung deteriation and early death. Organs are only ever taken from patients in Intensive Care Units who have suffered "brain death". So you'll be hoping you never actuallly "donate" but if the worst happpens I'd like to think someone else could get a few extra K's out of my heart, lungs, liver etc. You need to freecalll 1800 777 203 to add your name to the online register or you can go to www.donatewest.health.wa.gov.au it takes 4 minutes. Organ donation doesn't alter the appearance of your corpse so reallly you have nothing to lose. My goal is to get an extra million people signed up as organ donors to increase my friend's chance of finding a donor. So please forward this to your address book. Thankyou.

I tried to register in Australia a while ago, actually, but it seems as a non-resident (no Medicare number), I can't. Too bad, as it could be a waste of some perfectly good organs. No one would want the mutant knee, but that's not on the list of options anyway

Thanks Rob. The old message board has been a bit quiet lately. I don't get on much myself either. Most of us will have had licenses where we ticked a box but the system now is to join via the online register. This overrides the license. Therefore if you registered when you got your drivers license you now have to re-register.
