It looks like we're getting close to a final start list for the Kep Ultra being held on the Sunday of the Foundation Day long weekend on May 31, and I reckon we'll end up with about 8 competitors in the 100k and 3 in the 75k.
Quite a few people have already volunteered to help out which is just fantastic. The definites I know who will help are Kathy, Jamal and my wife Sue. As well, Nigel and Bruce from Northern Suburbs have offered to help, and are almost certainties. There are a couple more people who indicated some time ago they would be interested, plus some family / relations of runners.
We are going to have four aid stations approx every 20km at Bellevue, Mt Helena, Wooroloo and Clackline.
My ideal situation would be to have 3 teams of 2 people each manning aid stations (Aid Station 1 can go to do Aid Station 4). As well as this I would like 2 people in a car who are roving and can do things like go and pick up DNFs (probably not required ;D ), provide a bit of first aid, whatever. Then lastly there should be 2 people manning the finish, monitoring where every competitor is, and communicating with the aid stations.
That means about 10 people would be ideal in total. I probably have around 6 people at the moment.
I thought I would ask our friends here at the WAMC board first whether they are interested in helping out. If not, I'm sure I'll pick up people through Northern Suburbs.
It will be a very long day, probably from 6am or so to 10pm plus. If you can only help out for say half a day, maybe we can run a roster or similar.
Also looking for people who can pick up our overseas runners from the City and get them to the start line, then back to their hotel after the finish. One guy is flying in on Friday, and out again at 6am the day after the race.
