I am a new arrival in Perth and presently training for Perth Marathon in July. For long runs and races, I usually ingest a specialized drink (amino acid) for my energy fuels instead of gels (GU, powergel etc). My current supply of amino acid drink is about to run out and I plan to place a new order from the US.
This brings a question to my mind: Are runners allowed to place their OWN DRINKS at aid/drinking stations on the Perth marathon route?
If this is not allowed, it means that I need to rely on gels and will need to start taking them during my training. I also do not intend to use a Fuel Belt for the m'thon.

You are allowed to bring your own special drinks, these have to be handed in the day before, marked with your race number & drink station required at.
I'm curious about your amino acid drink - I presume it has carbs & electrolytes as well? Whats it called and why do you prefer it Oxidative?

Thanks Suzy. This is good news. I can start ordering the new batch from the US.
The drink is called vaam. It's in powder form so unlike gels, I will need to mix them with water.
The nutrition info is as follows: Energy : 42Kcal Protein : 2.6g (as an amino acid) Fat : 0.084g Carbohydrate: 7.6g Sodium : 0.77mg
