OK Trailblazer - I know you are going to brag and say that you were leading after .1km of the 21.1km but what happened for the remaining 21km?? ;D ;D

more on the Busselton Half @ www.coolrunning.com.au/forums/index.php?showtopic=26630&pid=541752&st=0entry541752 James Webster won it in 1.19.11 David Kennedy was 2nd in 1.19.54 Michael Baldock 3rd in 1.21.10. Tina Major 4th in 1.21 Kate Bevilaqua the 2nd woman in 1.29.
Results of Half, 10km, 5km, and 5km racewalk @ results.racetectiming.com/Default.a...=2015&EId=1 David Kennedy, Djefa, Nathan, Brett, and Mark, are all 6 inch finishers who all make up 20% of the top 25 in yesterdays Busselton Half Marathon... Fast and very nice course, and very well organised, was a good mini-running holiday opportunity I thought, and I hope to be back again next year...Was nice to get in a few of the photos too...thanks to Morts for the link see aaa.bur.st/?a=list&id=447&aaa=actionPete I reckon it was more like 0.4 or 0.5km actually, so about 4-5 times longer than you said, and one of the leading runners had instructed the others that its against the rules to pass me in the first 1km, but I had mercy on them and let them through early... ;D Plus had mercy on myself, so that I could settle into my target times...which was to go after about 4.45's per K... was very happy with my -4.07 first 1km -8.50 2km and even my -23.25 5km. After that my lack of focused training since melbourne marathon in october started to bite...Even my halfway -10.5km split of 52.18 (1.44 pace so under 5 minutes per KM) was still half decent though... I guess I shouldnt have walked for 3 minutes on my drink stop at Halfway, and after that I just couldnt get into a fast rhythm, and my sporadic training in the last 2 months started to catch up with me a bit...the encouragement/abuse I was honoured with after that helped me to stay on the job a bit, and my drinks paid off too, so was able to stay under 1.55, and claim a few scalps in the last few km... My final result of 1.52.... was a little slower than I'd hoped, would have liked to have found another 3 minutes in the last 10km, if I hadnt walked for my drinks at halfway maybe I would have...but sub 1.50 was what I wanted so I am reasonably happy with that Half going very close to the target zone for this weekend, which was sub 1.50... especially as I only decided to race it 1 week before, and my training has not been very focused or consistent in 2010 as yet... I don't know why everyone has to start so slow, (maybe its because they think they will conserve their energy or something) but I have the ability to feel comfortable at 3.40-4min per K for awhile, so I am going to keep on enjoying that feeling at the start, and if it annoys people, or means I find myself in the lead,..well too bad... besides that TV grab in the City to Surf last year was fun, and now that the Trailblazer legend has begun, I may as well perpetuate, it, especially since (a) it comes naturally, and (b) thats what Trailblazers do, and (c) it adds to the fun of the race I hope... I will not! be leading the Bridges 10k though I don't think, and I will endeavour to run a more conservative start there, and try not to upset A graders who might want to get past me about 1k-2k in...... So hopefully I can train well, and work on sustaining things for 3k-5k-10k-21k-42k...and knock off some PB's in the process, plus have more to brag about... ;D Not that I really care that much, but its all good fun isn't it???

Cheers trailblazer for the photo link on the Busso half marathon. I went down and competed as well, my third half in seven months and won my 'age ' division. On the link I found a great shot of myself collecting my prize obviously one happy runner!!! Obviously the first time I have won a prize. Loved the run, the atmosphere, the scenery and weather all perfect. Mind you, I do find in a small field I don't push as hard my time slower than my PB. I tended to slot into training mode with it all being so 'perfect'. Enjoyed the run regardless of not doing a PB. The stupid smile on my face in the photo again obvious surprise and elation with my win. You would have thought I had won the event with my excitement and that of my friends and family. To me I had. You keep doing what you do.... go out hard. trailblaze.... your obvioulsy having a ball and that's the main thing. Happy running )
