I won't be there this weekend for the recon. but still planning the run in December. Put your photocopy and map of run on the WAMC notice board near the bar last week. May create some interest as there is no WAMC run on that day.

Way to go Cota !
;D

As I said at Rotto, have added a mention of the race to the Cool Running Blog Updates Roster list of races at;
http://www.coolrunning.com.au/runningguide/arg.php?pagename=Main.BlogRoster2

I am doing the update for that week, so will try and sneak in a short comment or two about the results of 6 inch to contribute to some publicity in the Eastern States...

I am sure there are other areas on the Cool Running Website, that would be better places to promote the race...??? What about the WAMC website?

To fire up my personal desire for the six-inch I have reactivated my blog @ http://www.geocities.com/Colosseum/7549/runmara2005blog.html

The genesis of something new and exciting for trail running in WA?.......

Four of us showed up for the 6-inch Recon Run #1 over about 28km at 0630 this morning... Very nice area to run in, with some challenging hills, lots of kangaroos, and well shaded by the trees mostly...

Big challenge for me as I have not run more than 12km since the Perth Marathon at the beginning of July, but came through with flying colours.

Had some good discussions about various running topics out there...Also very peaceful,serene being well away from the city near sleepy Dwellingup. Now have a good mental picture of how 6-inch will finish in the last 14km or so...

Hoping to be there for Recon Run #2 in about 2 weeks time, to see more of the first 31km....Although I did have a look at the start near Goldmine Hill just down Del Park road from North Dandalup servo...

Just adding to what TB said. Had a really nice run out in the bush Saturday morning.The shade stayed around for most of the time. (We finished just after 9 so it should be fairly similiar for 6 inch.) Fairly easy to navigate. We had one off track experience which shouldn't be a problem from the other direction and the last section should be fairly easy. There was one killer hill about 200m long which will need to be run down carefully.
Planning on 3 hours from cnr of Whitakers and Scarp rd on 27/11 starting about 5.30am.
Any takers?
Hope your knee is doing better Graham.

Dave,

I got your message on my blog.

I'll be holidaying in NZ from 9-18 Dec so can't participate in the inaugural 6-inch track marathon.

Will earmark this in my 2006 race calendar.

The Need To Run ; whats the URL/Address for your Blog??? Are you on the Cool Running list of Blogs @ http://www.coolrunning.com.au/runninggui....unningBlogGuide

I have recently added a BLOGGER version of my BLOG it is very quick and easy to update and allows me to make comments on other BLOGGER Blogs. It is @ http://runmara2005blog.blogspot.com/

ONLY 1 month to go now until the 1ST 45km 6-INCH TRACK MARATHON winds its way up the Mundi Biddi Trail with the backdrop of an early morning sunrise draped over the Darling Scarp, and the plains below. Anyone out there up for the challenge NOW is the time to start getting ready for it..or even just come along to watch and support...Corner of Whittaker Rd and Del Park Rd, (near North Dandalup servo on South Western Highway) is the start line, with the first challenge being the ascent of Goldmine hill. Finish is at Dwellingup, some beautiful bush to run through...Inspired by NSW's infamous 6-FOOT Track Marathon in the Blue Mountains;
http://www.sixfoot.com/
http://www.coolrunning.com.au/runninggui....ixFootTrack2005

If you can be there on Sunday December 18 make the trip it will be well worth it....

RECON RUN#2
This Sunday morning we will be leaving from the cnr of Scarp and Whittakers rd in Nth Dandalup for 3 hours out and back along the course.
From South West hwy take Del Park Rd and after 1K pass the 6 inch start line on your left keep driving and take Scarp rd 5K further on on your left. Follow this for a few K until you see the cars, making sure to take the left fork about 3K down scarp rd.

Last call for RECON RUN #2 This Sunday NOV 27th at 0500...;
--about 28km-35km off-road may be hilly...
-- pace will be about 4-5-6-7 minutes per km ...???????

Meeting at corner of Scarp Rd and Whittakers Rd. Check Munda Biddi Map 2a. http://www.mundabiddi.org.au/

Directions;
1--Follow South West Highway coming from Perth/Armadale (driving south)
2-- see a North Dandalup service station (petrol etc), turn left into Del Park Road,
3--follow Del Park Rd (past the Whittaker road gravel track that goes up to Goldmine Hill..Whittaker Rd is the startline for the 6 inch on Sunday December 18th at 0400am) for a few km until you see Scarp Rd on your left,
4--then follow Scarp Rd to corner of Scarp Rd & Whittakers Rd on your left.

Note--Whittakers Mill picnic area (an old Bibbulumn track campsite before the Bibbulumun was realigned further inland) is on the right just before you get to the *LEFT!* fork of Whittakers Rd. http://www.bibbulmuntrack.org.au/
http://www.bibbulmuntrack.org.au/history.asp

Anyone wanting to come and needing to check details feel free to email me on jontheroadrunner@rocketmail.com or sms me on 0439 817 518 I will check my email at about 4pm, and will be checking my phone about 6pm-1900...

Weather still forecast for a humid 34 with morning thunderstorm risk (so interesting IRONMAN in Busselton I reckon...some of us plan to drive down to Busselton to go watch some of the IRONMAN WA after doing the RECON RUN)...

Recon Run #2; well the lightning and hail the night before was a little menacing, but it cleared up by the morning. It was good to check out a little more of the Munda Biddi trail from Whittakers Mill area in the direction of Del Park Rd. Crossed a small creek, "hurdled/steeplechased" a gate, and had a quick look at the decent size hill just before Del Park Rd. The parts we have run on Recon Run 1# and #2 don't include the toughest hills I don't think. So we know where the easy sections of the 6 inch will be...

Oh yeah then went and checked out the Ironman in Busselton for awhile, saw Angela Milne way out in front of all women(with the cyclist with the number 1 flag), Darren going extremely well, and Mitch Anderson winning to the strains of ACDC's thunderstruck....(quite appropriate considering the thunder&lightning the night before).....a tough, surreal, special, exciting,memorable weekend...!!!!!!!
