My goal is to run my first half marathon. However, I need to get hold of a sports bio-mechanic to have a look a at my knees. Heaps of pain when I run. Could anyone recomend one?

Duncan Sullivan is good. He's an ex runner too so knows that we don't like to be told to stop running. He works at Duncraig and West Perth.

avoid concrete,minimise bitumen...too much impact...trail running yeah! But I also find with my knee I have to be very careful on steep downhill, uneven ground, and soft sand...but that relates to the specific injury I have, may or may not be an issue for you...Dr Sullivan is well known, and as Suzy says has done some serious running of some sort, so may understand the mental outlook of the athlete....(i.e. whatever it takes I must run and/or compete and/or do sport...), which is something unfortunately a lot of GP's dont... I also noticed the huge difference of how the practicioner understood where I was coming from more when I went to SportsMed...
EPI you must know some biomech people...Also thanks for your comments on the blog...
Dr Ross Sanders (not sure if he is still in Australia these days was a very good Biomechanist lecturer/HOD when I was at ECU Joondalup, he did stuff with the New Zealand Olympic team I think...But try ECU Sports Science or even better UWA Human Movement departments if you seriously want a Biomechanist... I did two units in Biomechanics myself, but I cant remember much of it these days.... Try icing your knees, if its just an inflammation issue, you just need something cold to reduce the internal swelling (and therefore pain) after runs...Voltaren works for 20min or so...but I say goto SportsMed... SportsMed at Murdoch and Subiaco (SJOG hospital) is a good starting point West Coast Eagles club doctors.....and constantly deal with elite/professional/semi-professional sportspeople...a little pricey and be important you have health insurance... been helpful to me a few times...
2006 goals; 1-To get married to my Fiancee 2- help her prepare for her first 10km and maybe a HalfM...IF she wants to...
3. watch some T&F at the Commonwealth Games in March (I have tix for two evening sessions), plus may go watch the walks and marathon perhaps...which are free out on the course.
4. I may go get my knee fixed in 2006 so not sure how much running I will be doing...but if I am running they would be;
5-sub 38minute 10k (44.40 & 46.54 in 2005) 6-sub 1hr 30 Half Marathon (1.41 in 2005, a PB, but goal was sub 1.40) 7-Marathon; Goal 1; sub 3.30 Goal 2 sub 3hours. (4.02-2005, 3.55-2004 (sub 4 hour goal was achieved)) 8-sub 5 hours in the 2006 45km offroad 6-inch track ULTRA-marathon (Did 6hrs 25 in 2005 six-inch on 18/12/05 in my first ever ULTRA run) See link here; http://wamc.proboards41.com/index.cgi?bo....27100618&page=6
9-Run Rotto Marathon again? 10-Run my 10th consecutive Bridges... 11-sub 48 City to Surf. 12-sub 18 minute 5km. 13-Run a Marathon/Half Marathon or 10km in Sydney,Melbourne,Brisbane, or overseas... interstate 14-MOST of all enjoy my running and racing avoid injuries, and honour/worship the Creator Triune in my running...
2007; -Christmas Island Marathon? or a marathon/half marathon overseas or interstate ----->6foot track marathon
I still have racewalking goals too if I was ever to get my knees fixed....

I will be doing my first ever ultra this Sun at 6 inch track. Hopefully if I survive that unscathed I can go on to do the John Forrest 40 miler in 2006. Not much hope of me posting any PB times as I get older, so I will just be hoping to keep running as long as I'm still enjoying it (which I am).

Well realistically my next goals (next six months) my goals include:
1. Sub 38's for 10km
2. Sub 1.25 for half marathon
2. Sub 3.45 for Canberra 50
3. Sub 8 for Comrades..
I realistically think they are all possible with plenty of pain and hardwork... would love to get down to sub 36 by years end for 10km
